Joseph Ernest "J.E." Phillips

Mr. Joseph Ernest Phillips, 82, died Sunday, March 23, 2003 at his home in Walnut Hill. He was a native of Thomasville and had been a resident of Walnut Hill for the past 76 years. He was a member of Calvary Deliverance Temple Church and was retired from the Escambia County, Florida Sheriff's Department after 22 years as a deputy. He was preceded in death by a son, Junior Phillips and a brother, M.V. Phillips.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virgie Mae Phillips, two sons, Vernon Phillips and Doug Phillips, both of Walnut Hill; three sisters, Bernice Purvis of Bratt, Fla., Margaret McCullough of Walnut Hill and Mabel Raines of Pensacola; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 26, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Deliverance Temple Church with Rev. Paul Enfinger and Rev. Jack McCullough officiating. Burial will follow at Dry Springs Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
