Brewton can do better for both blood agencies

To the editor:
When I read Gary Robinson's letter concerning the Red Cross blood drives being cancelled I was aghast. It is hard for me to understand why the many good blood donors of Brewton are not giving. I can remember when we would bring in close to nearly 200 donors on New Year's Eve.
I am not begging for blood for either Northwest Florida Blood Center or Red Cross. I'm just begging for blood period. Our men and women are in Iraq fighting for us and we can't give a pint of blood for them. Where is your patriotism? Brewton of all places … I am surprised.
We have two blood banks to chose from here - Northwest Florida Blood Center, which supplies our local hospital, and the American Red Cross. There are enough donors in Brewton to give our share for the hospital and for our troops in the battlefield.
This is a time to pull together, not apart. Are you going to let another city do our part? It could be you, a friend or a relative that needs blood. Think about this and be ready to give a pint of blood the next time a blood mobile comes to our town.
