Mrs. Bettie Dirden, 76, died Friday, April 25, 2003. She was a native of Uriah and a resident of Atmore for many years. She was a retired restaurant cook. She was preceded in death by her sons, Willie Dirden, Ted Dirden and John Dirden; her sisters, Mattie Lou Coleman and Josephine Gardner and her brothers, Dave Bush and Freddie Bush.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty Carter, Rachel Shoemaker and Margaret Lymon, all of Atmore; two sons, James Dirden and Barron Dirden, both of Atmore; her mother, Edith Bush and Vanderbill Bush of Atmore; two sisters, Ulla Mae Bush and Estell Bush of Atmore; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, May 2, from 1 to 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, at 2 p.m. at Jones Street Holiness Church in Atmore with Dr. B. Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
