Mrs. Galithia Kemp Gant, 107, died Sunday, April 6, 2003 in a Pensacola hospital. She was a native of Burnt Corn in Conecuh County and a resident of Brewton for the past several years. She was a member of Baptist Hill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Marcellous Gant; her daughter, Annie Bell Askew and four sons, Oscar, Henry, Julius and Jessie Gant.
She is survived by three sons, Beaury, Samuel and James Gant; four daughters, Symathia Parker and Emma Dennis, all of Pensacola, Queen Esther Harrison of Brewton and Bessie Pressley of San Diego, Calif; 50 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; more than 10 great-great-great-grandchildren; a god-daughter, Sarah Thomas and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. S.C. Tucker officiating. Burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery with Joe Morris Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons.
