Despite having only five athletes qualify for state and last year's top-point earner injured, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers performed well enough in their events to place third in the state.
Track coach Alan Baker said he was very proud of the effort that the female athletes put forth.
With Ashley Samuel, last year's top point earner, injured, the five that did qualify earned 73 points which placed them behind Leeds and Sheffield high schools, respectively.
Joy McCorvey finished second in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200-meter
Shay Lane earned points by finishing eighth in the 400-meter and fifth in the high jump.
Brittnee Malloyd placed fourth in the long jump and second in the shot put.
The Lady Tigers finished strong in the relay events with the teams placing first in the 4×100-meter relay and second in the 4×400-meter.
