Commission to hold Thursday meeting

Without a quorum present for its regular Monday morning meeting, the Escambia County Commission will meet this Thursday morning at 9 a.m. at the Courthouse.
The first item on the agenda is an update from Dan Britton with South Alabama Trust Company. He will update the commission on two Certificates of Deposit that are going to mature.
Recent changes in state law will allow more flexibility in how the county is able to invest its funds.
The commissioners will consider a couple of apointments, one to the Dept. of Human Resources board and one the the Escambia County Healthcare Authority.
The commissioners will discuss relocating the Nokomis voting place, ratifying the Industrial Access Grant Application and Agreement and a substance abuse policy for Escambia County (Alabama) Transportation System (ECATS).
Finally, the commissioners are expected to approve financing for new telephone systems at the Courthouse and Satellite office in Atmore.
