Teenager busted in gun heist
7-year old has been charged as an adult for fleeing with a weapon

A Brewton teenager has been arrested and charged, as an adult, with first degree burglary and first degree theft of property following his arrest by the Escambia County Sheriff's Dept.
Evan Hurley, 17, of Burnt Pine Road, was arrested Wednesday, July 17, by sheriff's investigators Sgt. Monte McGougin and Jeff Beasley.
According to Escambia County Sheriff Grover Smith, his department was called in to investigate a July 15 burglary reported on Travis Road. Several firearms were stolen, according to a sheriff's dept. press release.
According to the department, an unknown suspect forcibly entered the home and took several weapons, including shotguns and rifles.
On July 16, deputy Steve Wyatt received information relating to Hurley's whereabouts. McGougin and Beasley located the suspect in the Riverview community speaking with another person. It was discovered that Hurley had one of the stolen weapons in his vehicle.
He was taken into custody and cooperated with investigators by assisting in the recovery of all the stolen weapons.
Hurley was charged as an adult because he was armed when he fled the residence after the burglary.
He is currently being held at the Escambia County Detention Center and his bail has been set at $20,000.
Smith thanked the community for assisting in the investigation and complimented McGougin and Beasley for their work on the case.
