Dear Editor,
I attended a banquet last week for the Youth Police Academy and would like to commend all the law enforcement agencies and Jefferson Davis Community College for the effort put forth for this program.
What a great program…to get our youth involved with law enforcement at an early age to teach these young men and women what law enforcement is all about. The officers involved in this (and there are many) create a bond and mutual respect that will last forever and have a tremendously positive effect on Escambia County. I don't know the names of all the officers, but as I understand it, it's a combined effort by a lot of agencies.
The Escambia County Sheriff's Dept., the Alabama Highway Patrol, the Brewton Police Dept., the Monroeville Police Dept., the 21st Judicial Drug Task Force, the Alabama Dept. of Corrections and Jefferson Davis Community College all participated.
I hope I didn't leave anyone out and I wish I knew the names of the individuals. Since I don't know all the names, I won't list any, but this is a program that Escambia County can be proud of.
Douglas Hale,
