Inmate walks away Monday

An escaped inmate from the Escambia County Detention Center had less than an hour of freedom before being captured here on Monday.
Ronald Davidson, 36, of Atmore, escaped just before 9 a.m. on Monday and was taken into custody at 9:40 a.m. off Pea Ridge Road, cccording to a sheriff department press release.
According to reports, an unidentified person saw Davidson running across St. Nicholas Avenue and immediately reported the incident. This led to a search for the suspect along St. Nicholas Avenue and into the O'Bannon Park Area.
Murphy said that a perimeter was set up by Escambia County Sheriff's deputies and Brewton Police officers. The Department of Correction's dog tracking team was also called in to aid in the search.
According to reports, Davidson was spotted running across Pea Ridge Road near the Jefferson Davis Community College apartment complex.
He was captured along the power lines in the woods by Sgt. Russell Martin of the Brewton Police Department.
Davidson was being held in the Escambia County Detention Center on charges for burglary third degree, theft of property first degree, and receiving stolen property second degree.
After being captured, Davidson was transported back to the Escambia County Detention Center and was arrested and charged with escape, third degree.
