Mr. Van Clayton Skelton Sr. died Friday, August 1, 2003 in Mobile. He was a native of Indianola, Miss. and a resident of Atmore for the past 25 years. He was retired from Luhr Brothers Towing Company after 25 years and attended the Baptist church.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Skelton of Atmore; his son, Van Clayton Skelton II; three daughters, Elizabeth Skelton of Atmore and Vanessa O'Campo and Cheryl Skelton, both of El Cajon, Calif; a brother, Daryl Skelton of Davenport, Fla.; five sisters, Betty Ann McGuire of Davenport, Josephine Entrekin of Pass Christian, Miss., Sandy Bramham of Belleview, Ken., Patricia Burgos of Clarksdale, Miss. and Evelyn Rice of Drew, Miss. and four grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday, Aug. 4, at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Dukes officiating and Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
