Miller Tigers prepare for upcoming season

A cloudy afternoon of practice was a welcome relief from the heat as the T.R. Miller Tiger football team took to the practice field Tuesday.
The team will have late afternoon practice on Thursday this week, Riggs said.
Players broke into four groups as specialized practice programs were held. Coach Jack Whigham worked with linemen on plays that will be used against opponents.
During practice on Tuesday, coach Jack Whigham worked on blocking practice with linemen for the team.
Other coaches worked on the team's passing game as well as other techniques that will be used against rivals during the upcoming football season.
According to Riggs, there are also 17 freshmen on the team with 20 sophomores and 22 juniors completing the roster for this year's team.
The team will be playing host at the season opener against Escambia County High School's Blue Devils from Atmore. The game is set for August 29 with a kick-off time of 7 p.m.
