Brewton, NEP/ Century split on gridiron

Last Saturday, the Brewton youth football teams took on Century and as well as a team from Pensacola. As a group, the teams picked up two wins and a loss.
Brewton Mini Mites 12
Century Mini Mites 0
At a 3-0 in the standings, the Brewton Mini Mites seem to be on top in the Ninth Division standings.
With a very fine win in Century, led by Q.B. Darryus Jackson with two touchdown runs, one for 55 yards and one from the 35-yard line.
Defense had a good game also to shut out the Black Cats, led by Keion Smith, Larry Cheatham and Jalen Jones.
Mites Brewton 18
NEP 6
The Mites are 2-1 on the season with a good win in North East Pensacola.
The offense was led by some good running from Anthony Herbert that scored on 2 touchdown runs, one from 65 yards and the other was a 45 yard touchdown.
The third team touchdown came when Baley Roberson ran one in from 55 yards out.
The defense played good as well, led by some good plays from Ricky Curry, Randy Davis and Percy Travis, who combined to hold N.E.P. to only 6 points.
Midgets-Brewton – 6
Century -12
The Brewton Midgets drop another close one to the Black Cats of Century, to put them 1-2 on the season.
On offense, the team was led by Keyara Matthews with some fine running for over 100 yards in the game.
The only score came in the second half kick-off, whe Cortez Banks ran one all the way back for a touchdown of 75 yards.
Defense played a nice game with Matthew Lane leading the way with four tackles.
Also helping on defense was Getyrun Benjamin and Deparish Campbell.
