Dear Editor:
Often individuals that deserve an enormous pat on their backs are completely overlooked. I would like to take this opportunity to thank a few of these people who have certainly made my past three years working for the City of Brewton as director of the Brewton Public Library a truly interesting and special place to work.
I would like to thank Mayor Jennings and the City Councilmen; Mr. Dunaway, Mr. Cotten, Mr. Barton, Mr. Lewis and Mr. Huff, and to John Angel, Sandra Robertson and Cynthia Elmore at city hall, for all their support and encouragement. Police Chief Lovelace and his fellow officers, Fire Chief Weaver and his crew, for their rapid response to calls from the library for assistance. Also thanks to Danny Howard and his manpower being available to do necessary replacements and repairs on short notice, and kudos to James Ewing for all his repair work at the library.
I wish to add many personal thanks to the Brewton Public Library board; Chairman Adam Powell, Elizabeth Garrett, Anita Wall, Lynette Avant and Keith Miller. The library and the City of Brewton are indeed fortunate to have such an outstanding, helpful and caring board. Few people realize the amount of time and energy the board extends to make this library the great facility we all have the privilege to enjoy.
And, of course, a very special and heartfelt thanks to the library staff; Amy Madden, Becky Blackmon, Amanda Bradley, Maggie Davis, Gisela Jordan, Doug Mitchell, Stacey Owens, Julie Pendleton and Wanda Wilson. Thank you for a job well done!
To all our patrons and guests we appreciate and thank you for using the Brewton Public Library, for without you the building would only be a place to store books; with you it is a library to be extremely proud.
Brooke Walker
