Charles Stone, purchasing director at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital, had a special treat awaiting him at work Friday morning.
Stone and his wife Jacque were treated to a limousine ride to Point Clear for the Baptist Health Care board retreat. He was one of 11 employees honored as a Baptist Health Care Legend.
The Legends program, established six years ago, was created to honor employees who exceed expectations to help clients, patients or co-workers.
The special employees and their guests were taken via limousines to the luxury resort for a special program, which included a video showcasing each of their stories.
One of the basic philosophies of Baptist Health Care is the importance of rewarding and recognizing staff members for exceeding expectations. Each year the organization honors employees who perform extraordinary acts within the system or within the community by going above and beyond a job description to help a co-worker or patient.
Other area employees that earned the Legends honor were; Cora Matthews, Atmore Community Hospital and Tina Flowers, Jay Hospital.
