Mr. Hubert Cleveland Baker, 83, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003 at a Pensacola, Fla. hospital. He was a native of Brewton and long time resident of Evergreen before moving back to Brewton 10 years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II, and was retired from the State of Alabama Road Maintenance Department. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Pugh Baker of Brewton; two sons, Charlie Baker of Saraland and Sonny Baker of Semmes; one step-son, Kenneth Gibson of Spanish Fort; three step-daughters, Kathleen Johnson of Baker, Fla., Betty Thompson of Evergreen and Ann Braxton of Deland, Texas; six grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Fred White officiating. Burial followed at Brownsville Cemetery in Evergreen with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
