The T.R. Miller Tigers did more than just earn a Class 3A state semifinal berth with their victory over W.S. Neal Friday.
The 31 points the Tigers scored allowed this year's squad to become the highest scoring team in school history. T.R. Miller has tallied 521 points in 13 games so far. The previous record was 516 points set by the 1996 team.
T.R. Miller is averaging 41.5 points a game so far this season.
T.R. Miller's 522 points is tied for with the 1957 Red Level team for 17th place on the all-time state list. The state record is 718 points set by Maplesville in 1996.
Ironically the team that sits ahead of T.R. Miller on the state scoring list in 16th place is this year's Pike County team. The Bulldogs have racked up 526 points.
Of course Pike County and T.R. Miller square off in the state semifinals Friday.
