Mrs. Jeanne Evans Maxwell, 84, of Petal, Miss. died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2003 in a Miss. nursing facility after an extended illness. She was a native and long-time resident of Brewton before moving to Hattisburg in 1988. She was a member of Axis First Baptist Church and a retired nurse from D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital with 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Vincent Maxwell and a son, Rufus Maxwell.
She is survived by a son, Richard Maxwell of Brewton; three daughters, JoAnn Moore of Hattisburg, Mary Jeanne Beasley of New Ringgold, Penn. and Fern Chavers of Satsuma; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2:30 p.m. at May Creek Methodist Church with Rev. Bryan Garrett officiating. Burial followed at May Creek Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
