Two Brewton natives emerged unscathed from a frightening experience earlier this week, when their car was stolen from them at gunpoint in Birmingham.
Deanna and Felicia Jackson -- the daughters of T.R. Miller girls basketball coach Ron Jackson -- were the victims of a carjacking which took place in the last evening hours of the 28th or the early morning hours of the 29th.
The young women, 26 and 24 respectively, were unharmed during the incident, but came away from it shaken, their father said.
The incident occurred, Jackson said, when his daughters were coming back from an evening of skating at a Birmingham rink. A vehicle cut them off, made them get out of their vehicle at gunpoint, then took their vehicle, a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The young women were left by the side of the road, where they called the police on a cell phone.
They called their parents once they were back home and safe, Jackson said.
Deanna, a player in the Womens National Basketball Association (WNBA) is now on her way overseas for league play in Korea.
Of the incident, which bore all the earmarks of big-city crime, Jackson said "we're blessed to live in a small town like Brewton."
