Friday, Jan. 9, Escambia County's Junior Miss Jamie Peacock will be traveling to Montgomery for a week of preparation and competition for the state Junior Miss program.
Peacock will spend next week with 55 other competitors, preparing for the pageant and practicing for the physical fitness and poise routines, opening number, her talent performance and interview.
During her week in Montgomery, Peacock will be staying with host family Greg and Judy Crews and their sons Greg and Chad.
On Dec. 6, Peacock traveled to Montgomery for state Junior Miss orientation.
While there, she received materials and an itinerary for next week's activities and met the family that will be hosting her next week and her roommate, Kadie Ann Duren of Jefferson County.
The first preliminary competition will be Friday, Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m., at which time Peacock will have her talent performance.
The second preliminary performance is Saturday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m., and finals are at 7 p.m. that night.
For the talent competition, Peacock will perform a gymnastics routine to music from "Aladdin."
Fifty-six counties will be represented in the state competition.
In July, Peacock, a lifelong resident of Brewton and a senior at T.R. Miller High School, was named Escambia County's Junior Miss for 2004 and was awarded $3,700 in scholarships.
Cards and flowers may be sent care of Peacock's host family in Montgomery at 8312 Wynlakes Blvd., Montgomery, Ala. 36117.
The Alabama Junior Miss will be held at the Montgomery Civic Center.
