Mrs. Alma Chance Madden, 85, of Appleton Road died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at her residence after an extended illness. She was a native of Castleberry and a life-long resident of Brewton. She was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, David L. Chance and Clyde C. Madden Sr.; three sons, Dave Chance, Levi Chance and Eli Chance; two step-sons, Holly and James Cecil Madden; three grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is survived by two sons, Shelton "Rusty" Madden and Wayne Madden, both of Brewton; three step-sons, Clyde "Soda Pop" Madden Jr. and William Madden, both of Brewton and Willie Charles Madden of Castleberry; two daughters, Glennis Gomillion of Pensacola, Fla. and Nadine Kerley of Irvington, Ala.; six step-daughters, Marie Madden and Emily Cooper, both of Brewton, Eva Jean Evans of East Brewton, Agnes Crutchfield of Evergreen, Bonnie Walker of Dothan and Linda Fay White of Tuscaloosa; two brothers, J.D. Smith of Castleberry and Riley Smith of Mobile; 38 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Reo Pugh officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Holiness Church Cemetery in Castleberry with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
