Have you had your blood pressure or cholesterol checked lately?
Do you know what safety measures to use to protect your home?
Have you experienced a unique and ancient way of de-stressing your body or know what heart healthy snacks to eat?
Mark your calendar and make plans to join all of Brewton and the surrounding areas for the 10th annual FitFest program set for Thursday, Feb. 12 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Brewton Area YMCA.
Several community services and health care professionals will unite to present a dynamic health program.
Participants will get free cholesterol, blood pressure and sugar screenings.
Fasting (no food after midnight) is highly recommended for accurate results from your tests.
Other programs offered that day include discussions on "Safety for Seniors" by Escambia County Sheriff Grover Smith, "Heart Healthy Eating" by registered dietitian Nancy Johnson and "De-stressing with Massage Therapy" by Stacey Fuqua, Licensed Message Therapist, and Vivian Layton, Senior Program Director for the Brewton Area YMCA.
There will be a chance to win door prizes, enjoy heart healthy refreshments, learn new information and visit with other members of the community.
This free service to Brewton and surrounding areas is sponsored by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System in partnership with D. W. McMillan Hospital and the Brewton Area YMCA.
