Mr. Vernon McCraney, 79, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004 in Atmore. He was a native of Baker, Fla. and a resident of Atmore for the past 20 years. He attended the Church of the Living God and was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann McCraney; a son, Larry McCraney; a brother, James McCraney and a sister, Omie McCraney.
He is survived by his wife, Genese McCraney of Atmore; two sons, Jerry McCraney of Atmore and Doug McCraney of Anchorage, Alaska; six daughters, Jan Powell, Debbie Fulbright and Jo Bexley, all of Atmore, Ann Waddell of Philadelphia, Miss., Bobbie Walker of Mobile and Rita Ikner of Frisco City; a brother, Leroy McCraney of Fairhope; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Harrison officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Chris Garrett, Keith Fulbright, Jerry McCraney, James McCraney, Charles England and Ricky McMillan.
