On Sunday, March 28, the Escambia County Sheriff's Office concluded their fourth and final enforcement blitz at 5 p.m.
According to Major Mike Murphy, "We were mainly concentrating on underage drinking, speeding and seat belt compliance because a lot of people were traveling this past weekend due to Spring Break ending for most Alabama students."
All funding that covered the enforcement blitzes -- 12 hours on Saturday, March 27 and 4 hours on Sunday March 28 -- was provided by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs through the "Click It or Ticket" grant administered by the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.
According to Major Murphy, 170 tickets were issued along with 148 warnings. Listed below are the statistics for the 170 tickets:
No seat belt -- 97; child restraint -- 4; speeding -- 30; driver's license violations -- 13; no insurance -- 6; expired or no tag -- 5; reckless driving -- 1; attempt to elude -- 1; open container -- 4; disorderly conduct -- 1; minor possession/consuming alcohol -- 2; Escambia County Sheriff's Office warrants served -- 3; Atmore Police Department warrant served -- 1; Conecuh County Sheriff's Office warrant served -- 1; Escambia County Florida Sheriff's Office warrant served -- 1.
