Tuesday, April 6, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Escambia County authorities located the body of Robert Eugene Kotronis, missing since Saturday.
Kotronis' body -- found by Philip and Ben Wiggins with the Escambia County Rescue Squad -- was submerged in 10 feet of water near the boat landing on Bradley Road.
His body was transported to the State Department of Forensic Sciences in Mobile for an autopsy, according to Major Mike Murphy with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies and Investigators from the Escambia County Sheriff's Office have been looking for 55-year-old Kotronis since his disappearance early Saturday morning in the Roberts Community.
Deputies responded early Saturday morning to the boat landing on Bradley Road near the bridges crossing the Conecuh River. Alyce Gay reported that Kotronis, her boyfriend, was missing. She stated that they had camped at the site overnight and that when she woke up, he was gone.
The Escambia County Rescue Squad was contacted and several members assisted Sheriff's Deputies in searching the river and surrounding areas for Kotronis.
The search was called off Saturday afternoon after several hours of searching.
The search continued Monday with members of the Escambia Search Dog Association utilizing canines, Officers of the Alabama Game and Fish Commission searching the Conecuh River by boat and agents with United States Customs flying aircraft attempting to locate Kotronis. After a full day of searching on Monday, Kotronis was not found. The search of Conecuh River continued on Tuesday, when Kotronis' body was found.
