WSN, TRM get 11 additional berths for state track meet

T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will have an additional 11 entries for the Class 3A state track meet.
In addition to the top three places at the four respective sectionals, the top remaining four performances also qualify for the state meet as "wild cards."
On the girls side, T.R. Miller's Crystal Higdon was added to the list of 3200 meter entries. Higdon was fourth at the T.R. Miller Sectional Thursday with a time of 14:02.03.
Three wild cards were taken from the T.R. Miller Sectional in the boys 100 meter dash. One of those was W.S. Neal's Jarrod McCreary, who finished sixth in that race with a time of 11.6.
In the 200 meter dash, W.S. Neal's Mario Daniel and Jonathan Alexander plus T.R. Miller's Michael Jones were added to the list of state entries. Daniel was fourth at the sectional with a time of 23.67, Alexander took fifth at 24.4 and Jones came in sixth at 24.75.
T.R. Miller's Chris Byrd was added to the 800 meters competition. Byrd was fourth at the sectional race with a time of 2:14.81.
W.S. Neal's Shon Biddle now will get an opportunity to compete in the 1600 meters. He was fourth at the sectional at 5:22.7.
In the 3200 meters, W.S. Neal's Ray Dunn and T.R. Miller's Michael Hunt were added to the mix. Dunn came in fourth at the sectional with a time of 11:37.66, while Hunt took fifth at 12:08.33.
Two local athletes were added to the field events. W.S. Neal's Cecil Thomas will now take part in the triple jump after a fourth place sectional jump of 37-7, while Blue Eagle teammate Chris Johnson was selected for the javelin throw. Johnson came in fourth at the sectional with a heave of 125-4.
