Mrs. Mary Evelyn Smith Biggs, 96, died Friday, May 14, 2004 at her residence. She was a native of Perdido and a resident of the Lottie Community. She was a retired school teacher and was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Biggs, her oldest son, John Leon Biggs; a brother, Thomas Franklin Smith and two sisters, Clara Ann Smith and Vivian Smith Little.
She is survived by three sons, Charles William Biggs of Warrington, Fla., Benny Dale Biggs of Lottie and Henry Derwood Biggs of Stapleton; one daughter, Evelyn Ann Biggs Williams of Brewton; two sisters, Willie Mae Smith Snyder of Saraland and Edna Smith Chambless of Bay Minette; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 16, at 2 p.m. at Lottie United Methodist Church with Dr. Will Baker, Dr. Douglas Newton and Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating. Burial followed at Lottie United Methodist Church Cemetery with Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. of Atmore in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Toddy Booker, DeWayne Dean, Erik Hall, Keith Hayles, Carey Hughes and Bob Lambrecht. Honorary pallbearers were David and Margorie Dean, Dorothy Edwards, Neita Hall, Calvin and Earline Hayles, Dr. Ben Maxwell, Shelby Morrison, Gwen Taylor, Tab Turberville and representatives of the Atmore Hospital Auxiliary: Silver Zee Brown, Annette Dawe, Hannas Donald and Evelyn Turberville.
