Expos, Pirates sweep

Both the Expos and Astros concluded the Brewton Babe Ruth season with two-game sweeps in different ways.
The Expos swept a doubleheader Monday from the Pirates by scores of 11-5 and 15-3. The Astros had a two-day sweep against the Padres with a 12-2 win Monday and a 14-4 victory Tuesday.
Expos 11-15, Pirates 5-3
The Expos used their doubleheader sweep of the Pirates to earn a share of second place with the Rockies.
In the opener, the Pirates had a 5-4 advantage until the Expos erupted for seven runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead for good.
The Expos got a pair of singles from Travis Holland. Mabry Cook contributed a single and two RBIs. Aaron Lambert and Becker Denton both had a single and an RBI. Tanner Shehan had a single.
The Pirates were led by Will Waters, who had a single, a double and an RBI. Bobby Freeman had a single and an RBI, while James Freeman ripped a double. Jake Dixon and Sam Sharpe both added a single.

get the win for the Expos, as he fanned nine and scattered six hits.
The nightcap, which was called after three and one-half innings, followed a smilar pattern.
The Pirates had a 3-2 edge after one inning before the Expos put up 13 unanswered runs over their next three at bats.
Shehan had a perfect three-for-three game at the plate and had four RBIs to pace the Expos. Willie Southwell had a pair of singles. Denton had a double and drove in three runs. Lambert had a single with two RBIs. Justin Gomez and Mabry Cook each had a single. Todd Robinson and Steven Murphy both had a single and an RBI.
Denton was working on a three-hitter with seven strikeouts at the time the game was called.
The Pirates had a single from Waters, James Freeman and Dixon.
Astros 12, Padres 2
The Astros jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning and cruised to a six-inning triumph.
Brandon Odom paced the Astros attack with three singles and an RBI, while Justin Payne added two singles and two RBIs. Derek Busby also had two singles. Jared Cooper ripped a triple, while David Payne had a double. John Mathieu and Ryan Hand both added a single.
Busby shut down the Padres with a three-hitter and 10 strikeouts.
The Padres got singles from Tyler Brown, Jake Hodge and Jeremy Curry.
Astros 14, Padres 4
One day after the Astros beat the Padres on the 10-run in six innings, they did it again Tuesday in just five innings.
The Astros got a pair of doubles and two RBIs from Jared Cooper. Derek Busby posted a pair of singles and one RBI. David Payne also had two singles. Kyle Bassett had a single and drove in two runs. Keynath Lewis, Brandon Odom and Brandon Winchester all had a single.
Odom tossed a two-hitter and struck out five for the win.
The Padres got a double and an RBI from Ryan Meier and single and an RBI from Jamar Travis.
