Jefferson Davis Community College baseball recruit Cory Middleton has agreed to terms with the Detroit Tigers.
Middleton was taken in the 10th round with the 283rd overall pick in major league baseball's amateur draft two weeks ago. He is expected to be assigned somewhere in Detroit's Rookie League system.
A shortstop from Escambia (Fla.) High School, Middleton hit .450 this spring and led the Pensacola area in homeruns with 13.
Ironically, JDCC coach Jim Morrill had originally signed Middleton for his pitching arm.
Although Middleton will never play a single inning in a Warhawks uniform, Morrill said Middleton's original signing with the school is still a plus.
The East Brewton Youth Football League will hold its quarterly meeting June 28 at 6 p.m. at the Agriculture Science Center, which is located behind Southern Pine Electric.
