One slow start sent the Brewton Little League Age 11-12 All-Stars to the losers bracket. A second slow start ended their participation in the district tournament at Andalusia.
Brewton was knocked out of the tournament Monday when it fell to Andalusia 12-8.
Brewton overcame one early hole when it scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to wipe out a 2-0 deficit.
However, Andalusia took the lead for good in the second inning when a four-run rally put it up 6-2.
Brewton got a pair of singles from Terez Lane and losing pitcher Robert Knowles to lead its attack. Stephen Warren and Corey Rilling each added one hit.
Brewton opened the tournament on a tough note Saturday when it lost to Opp 14-3 in just three and one-half innings.
Opp sent 16 batters to the plate and scored 11 runs in the first inning to easily take control of the game.
Not only was Brewton unable to shut down the Opp offense, it was limited to just three hits by Opp pitcher Gavin Free.
Wil Riggs had a double, while both Cody Swain and Warren both had a single to account for Brewton's offense.
Swain started on the mound and took the loss.
