Barton seeks Brewton City Council position

Fred Barton has qualified to run for election to the district 5 city council seat on Aug. 24, 2004.
Barton said he has proven leadership abilities: he works for Grady Automotive of Brewton as GFAC's branch manager; he has been recognized by General Motors as the number one sales person in Atlantic Zone and he serves as deacon at Second St. John Baptist Church.
He is active in the Alabama National Guard as a first sergeant for the 1st of the 117th Field Artiliary Company in Geneva.
In his 32 years of military service, Barton has had many assignments in the states and overseas. His last assignment was in Saudi Arabia, Desert Shield and Desert Storm where he served for one year. He received two army achievement medals for leadership and outstanding service.
Barton and his wife, Cheryl, live at 501 Blacksher Lane. They have three daughters, Freda, Ingria and Joshmene and two granddaughters, Erica and Chekara. Barton is the brother of Councilman Cary Barton.
