Debi Travis Steadman has qualified to run for Place 3 on East Brewton's City Council.
Steadman decided it was her turn to get involved in the city's government.
Steadman proposes holding events for young people -- like dances -- at the East Brewton Civic Center on weekends. She suggests that local bands may want to perform at these events and refreshments could be sold.
Steadman, a graduate of W.S. Neal High School, has been employed as an appraisal clerk at the Escambia County Courthouse for eight years.
She is a member of the Neal Quarter Back Club, Neal Band Boosters, Neal Middle School PTO and the Community of Christ Church in Dixonville.
She and her husband of 26 years, Daryl, have three children: Daryl, 26; Melissa, 23; and Audrey, 14.
Elections for East Brewton's municipal offices will be Tuesday, Aug. 24.
