Voters to decide on Tuesday

In just two days, on Tuesday, Aug. 24, citizens of Brewton and East Brewton will go to the polls to decide who will serve them for the next four years as council members and mayor.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and voters will be required to present some form of identification -- driver's license, a utility bill with the voter's name on it, or some other form of I.D. -- when they come in to vote.
Brewton voters in District 1 will vote at the Brewton Community Center; at the Brewton Middle School media room for Districts 3 and 4; and at the Jeferson Davis Community College museum for District 5.
Candidates for Brewton's District 1 City Council place are incumbent Dennis Dunaway and Ann Marie Sasser. District 3 City Council candidates are incumbent Cary Barton and Homer Hamilton. District 4's City Council candidates are incumbent Walter "Jake" Lewis and Lawrence Jolly. City Council candidates for District 5 are incumbent Mervin Huff, Fred Barton and Henry Uptagrafft. Brewton Mayor Ted Jennings and District 2 council member Frank Cotten were automatically re-elected without opposition.
All East Brewton voters will vote at the East Brewton Senior Citizens' Center on Tuesday.
Incumbent Mayor Terry Clark will face Charles Fountain and Bernie C. Raines in the race for East Brewton mayor.
Running for East Brewton City Council Place 1 are incumbent Huey Johnson, Bob Arrant and Terri Minchew. Candidates for Place 2 are incumbent Kenny Hultz, Geoffrey McGraw and Priscilla Thomason West. Candidates for Place 3 are incumbent Ronnie Byron Palmer and Debi Travis Steadman. Place 4 candidates are incumbent Dewayne King and Henry Hooks. Finally, Place 5 candidates are incumbent Bettie Jo Jordan, Michael Cosey and Wayne Howard.
