Mrs. Clara McCurdy Pugh, 86, died suddenly Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at a local hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Jay and was preceded in death by her son, Lavon Pugh and brothers, Wiley McCurdy, Melvin McCurdy and Wade McCurdy. She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Annie Espinosa of Jay and Ella Prescott of Milton, Fla.; two sisters, Evelyn Evans of Jay and Helen Salter of Milton; a brother, Edward McCurdy of south Florida; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at Jay Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home with the Rev. Earle Greene and the Rev. John Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Jay Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be Rondol Dixon, Ralph Hayes, Robert Hayes, David McCurdy, Johnny Evans and Kenny Hunt. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Lail and Ricky Lail.
