Hurricane Ivan took out the front windows of the Bank of Brewton's downtown branch and did roof damage, leaving a soggy mess for workers to clean up on Friday.
Bank president Jerry Kelly said even in areas of the bank that did not sustain water damage, the winds lifted the carpets from the floor. There was also damage to the cupola at the bank's north branch, Kelly said.
Despite the damage, Kelly said both branches of the bank would be open Monday, Sept. 20, with generated power.
Meanwhile, Banktrust opened half a day on Friday, and other local banks were expected to resume operations with generated power as soon as possible.
