Mr. Richard Odom Sr., 81, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 at a local hospital. He was a native of Escambia County, Ala. and a resident of Flomaton for many years. He was a member of Damascus Baptist Church in Flomaton and he was the owner of a logging/pulpwood company. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Hester L. Odom; a sister, Clara Mae Carter; and brothers, Reavy Odom Sr., Harvey Odom Sr., Roy Carter, Willie Carter Sr. and Clarence Carter.
He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Odom of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Ernestine Odom of Flomaton; six sons, Richard Odom Jr., Michael Odom, Johnny Odom and Steven Odom Sr., all of Flomaton, Aubrey Odom of Century, Fla., Tommy Odom Sr. of Pensacola, Fla.; three sisters, Francis Gabriel, Rosemary C. Sullivan and Elnora Carter, all of Pensacola; four brothers, Solomon Odom, Nathaniel Odom and Charles Odom, all of Flomaton and Robert Lee Carter of Pensacola; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. at Damascus Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry J. Hawkins officiating. Burial followed at Fanny-Damascus Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
