When Bob Walters, news director of WTVW NewsChannel 7 in Evansville, Ind., heard about the devastation Brewton has suffered at the hands of Ivan, he was sure the people of his community would want to help people in ours.
WTVW teamed up with the American Red Cross and Evansville businesses, and "The Brewton Project" was set into motion, giving the people and businesses of Evansville an opportunity to help with donations of food, toiletries and cleaning supplies.
Each day this week, Sept. 27 through Oct. 3, WTVW will station a trailer at seven different Buehler's Buy Low locations -- a local grocery chain -- in and around Evansville to collect donations.
This Monday, Oct. 4, the trailer, provided by Meisler Trailer Rentals, will leave Evansville and is scheduled to arrive in Brewton on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Once in Brewton, Evansville's donations will be taken to the office of the East Escambia Chapter of the American Red Cross to be distributed to needy residents.
WTVW NewsChannel 7 wishes to thank Meisler Trailer Rentals, Buehler's Buy Low, Inland Container and Ameri-Stamp for their contribution to this project.
