Construction permits needed for some repairs

At Monday's meeting of the East Brewton City Council, city building inspector Lawton Shipp asked that citizens be reminded that permits may be required for repairing damage from Hurricane Ivan. For advice about whether construction plans or repairs require a permit, contact Shipp at the East Brewton City Hall, 867-6092.
Shipp also cautions that any project costing more than $10,000 must be done by a licensed homebuilder, under state law. Construction companies must also be bonded, licensed and insured.
