County agrees to return favor

At its meeting on Monday, Oct. 11, the Escambia County Commission approved mutual aide agreements that commit the county Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and law enforcement to go to other counties in the event of a disaster -- just like many officials from other counties came to Escambia County just after Hurricane Ivan hit.
The mutual aide agreements also allow Escambia County Sheriff's officers and members of the highway department to respond to disasters in other counties, provided that Escambia County is not affected by the same disaster.
The commission also voted to appoint Sanks as the county's agent for dealing with FEMA throughout recover from Hurricane Ivan.
In other business, the county commission:
