Mr. Joe McMillan, 58, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at his residence. He was a native of Camden and had been a resident of Atmore for many years. He was a member of Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore and a masonry instructor at Jefferson Davis Community College in Atmore. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Lee Kate McMillan.
He is survived by his wife, Doris J. McMillan of Atmore; two daughters, Shanta Bowen of Miami, Fla., and Harlisha Martin of Laurel, Miss.; three sons, Mitchell Sigler of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Fredrick Martin and Michael Martin, both of Atmore; six sisters, Rosie Lee Frierson and Bertha Cage, both of Muskegon, Mich., Belinda Gross of Lemon Grove, Calif., Brenda DeSilver of Manitee, Ann Clausell of Seattle, Wash., and Aleen Saunders of Harrisburg, Penn.; four brothers, Lindsay Gary of Phoenix, Ariz., Michael Gary of Vale, Austria, Larry Gary of Vancouver, Wash., and Joe Black of Seattle, and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 30, at 1 p.m. at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with the Rev. Ywell Cunningham officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery in Atmore with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
