The Brewton Police Department is investigating the deaths of two local residents who were found dead Wednesday morning.
Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, the Brewton Police Department received a call at 7:30 a.m. to 108 Gooden Lane in reference to someone lying in the roadway. Upon arrival, police found a black male lying on his back in the yard. A second body of a black female was found inside the residence. The two bodies have been identified by police as Robert Shavers, 77, and Rosemary Washington, 44.
Preliminary investigation revealed that both subjects had been shot. Chief David Lovelace requested the assistance of the Domestic Violence Task Force, Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Forensic Science. The bodies were taken to the Department of Forensic Science in Mobile to determine the official causes of death.
