Miss America visits Brewton, JDCC
Ackerman, Miss., native and current Miss America Cheryl Prewitt visited JDCC this week, where she gave two musical performances as part of the college's observance of its 15th anniversary.
Poster winners
Several fifth graders won $5 Dairy Queen coupon books for their posters created to promote the Great American Smokeout. They included Shannon Stanley, Gary Cain, and Christie McKendree. They were shown with event coordinators Betty Lowrey, Jane Hill and Kay Owen.
Brewton native tours with Pied Pipers
Tom Salter, son of Mrs. Peggy Salter, is touring with Troy State University's Pied Pipers. He is the group leader of the children's theater ensemble.
Southern Normal renovations underway
Southern Normal has been renovating its pre-school unit since it was damage by fire in February. Pre-school teachers are Miss Francis Lewis and Mrs. Marjorie Rottschafer.
