Mr. Marlon H. Nelson Sr., 84, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at a local hospital. He was a native of Elba and a resident of Atmore since 1965. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and attended Westend Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Nelson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Nelson of Atmore; two sons, Donny Nelson of Prattville and Ricky Nelson of Atmore; a brother, Dick Nelson of Prattville; two sisters, Martha Lee Stricklin of Spanish Fort and Margie Clements of Brewton; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Gladdin Mothershed officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Kyle Nelson, Braxton Griffin, Nelson Clements, Don White, Jack Allen McGhee and Eddie Tullis. Honorary pallbearers were John Perkins, Billy Downey and Cliff Blackburn.
