CCB to host Rally for Cure

Wednesday The Country Club of Brewton will be hosting Rally for a Cure Wednesday at 12 noon. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. The event helps support the National Breast Cancer Awareness Program.
This is the sixth time the Country Club of Brewton has pledged its support and teed off against breast cancer.
This year's event was originally scheduled back in September, but was rescheduled due to Hurricane Ivan.
Approximately 40 players are expected to compete in this year's event.
Women golfers in all 50 states haved joined in this year's crusade to increase breast cancer awareness. A year ago the Dallas-based Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation received more than $3.4 million from the Rally program.

The Brewton Bassmasters concluded its 2004 season with its annual Classic tournament. This year's event was held at the Cliffs located in Baldwin County.
Lavon White came away with top honors, as the 10 fish he caught weighed a tournament high 22.6 pounds. White also had the biggest lunkers with a weight of 3.39 pounds on the first day of competition and 3.24 on the second day.
Sammy Thomas finished second, as his 10 fished had a weight of 19.95 pounds. Timmy Thomas was third with a weight of 18.08 from the 10 fish he caught.
Fifteen people qualified to compete in the event.
For the season, White had the Angler of the Year at 109.72 pounds, the Biggest Striper at 17.93 pounds and the Lunker of the Year at 6.11 pounds. Sammy Thomas had the Angler of the Year runner-up at 98.1.
Keesler Air Force Base did not report to duty for Thursday's basketball game at Jefferson Davis Community College. The game will not be made up.
JDCC's next game is now Tuesday when it hosts Bevill State at 7 p.m. It is the last home game for the Warhawks until January 10.
Despite a 1-3 record, JDCC ranks among the best in the country in several individual and team marks.
Richard Ford has the best ranking with a fourth place mark in rebounds at 11.5 per game.
Kedric Wilson is 30th in field goal percentage at 66.7 percent, while Arthur Richardson is 31st in free throw percentage at 84.6 percent. Richardson is 39th in free throws at 83.3 percent. Cory Webb is 40th in assists at 4.5 per game.
In team rankings, JDCC is 31st in field goal percentage at 50.6 percent, 32nd in free throw percentage at 62.1 percent, 44th in offense at 68.75 points a game, 46th in defense at 80.75 points a game and 47th in three-point percentage at 26 percent.
