Police investigating robbery

The Brewton Police Department is investigating the Wednesday armed robbery of a convenience store on Hwy. 31, and two holiday burglaries.
Police Chief David Lovelace said his department received a report of an armed robbery at the Diamond Station #14 on Hwy. 31 South Blvd. early Wednesday evening. Officer John Peavy responded, and was told by the store manager who on duty that two black males had entered the store, demanding money from the cash register. The men were dressed in dark pants and jackets with hoods covering their faces and one was reportedly carrying a hand gun. After taking money from the register, the two fled toward Alco Drive.
Lovelace said the store's video surveillance camera was working and police have some good leads which they hope will lead to an arrest.
Chief Lovelace also reminded people to be careful, especially during the holiday season, when crime rates often rise.
The department also is investigating two burglaries.
Lovelace said officers were on a routine patrol at 2:31 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning when Officer Jimmy Baisden discovered a break-in at Age
