Capture the spirit of Christmas by spending a magical afternoon or evening with your family. Andalusia Ballet is celebrating its 22nd season of bringing the art of dance to our area with its seasonal favorite-The Nutcracker. Audiences of all ages can share in Clara's excitement as she opens her magnificent presents, her distress as she witnesses the Nutcracker battle the Rat King, her amazement as the Nutcracker is transformed into a prince and her joy as she visits the Kingdom of the Sweets.
This year the roles of the Cavalier and the Prince are performed by Raul Peinado and David Guggino who have traveled from New York to be with the Andalusia Ballet for this special production. Holly Odom, who is dancing the part of the Sugar Plum Fairy has just returned from New York where she had the opportunity for intensive practice with Raul. The entire cast including focal dancers, Mary Catherine Turner as Chinese, Mary Ashton McMillan and Madison Floyd as Marzipan as well as Stephen and Joseph Billy as Fritz's friends has worked diligently to produce a performance that will both captivate you and make you proud. Tickets are available for Saturday, Dec. 11, at 7;30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 12, at 2:30 p.m. There is no reserved seating.
There will also be a special "members only" preview performance on Friday night. All performances are in the Dixon Center for Performing Arts on the LBW campus in Andalusia. Anyone interested in obtaining tickets or becoming a member of the Ballet Association can call the ballet office at 334-222-6620.
