Members of Brewton's 1165th National Guard unit can testify to the difficulties of spending Christmas overseas, in a war zone, away from loved ones. Though there are back at home with us, let's not forget this Christmas those who continue to represent us abroad, and their families at home.
This year, members of the National Guard's 711th signal battalion in Atmore, along with thousands of other troops, will be overseas. While delivery is guaranteed by Christmas, postal officials say they are doing everything possible to make sure troops get mail promptly if they are mailed by Dec. 11.
