A dream came true for Dennis Dunaway recently when he became the new owner of local AM radio station WEBJ.
Dunaway has been affiliated with the station off and on since 1969.
In those days, Wes Garner owned the station and Gene Cashman was the general manager. Dunaway also worked for Cashman when he became the owner, and later as general manager for Cashman's daughter, Candy Cashman Smith, from whom he purchased the station last week.
Smith plans to open a clothing and accessories boutique, Shades of Gray. The business initially will locate in the Hourglass and will be open next March. She previewed her clothing line during last Thursday night's Christmas Downtown.
Meanwhile, Dunaway said listeners shouldn't expect many changes in WEBJ's format.
He also expects to feature more local guests on the morning program "Another Day in Paradise," which airs from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
He encouraged anyone who has an event or a cause to publicize to contact the radio station.
