Paderick Marshall of Atmore was convicted of manslaughter Tuesday in Twenty-First Judicial Circuit Court.
Marshall was charged with the murder of Randy Mitchell.
In a two-day trial, a jury found Marshall guilty of manslaughter, a class B felony. Bond was set at $20,000 and Marshall bonded out of jail the same day.
Sentencing will follow at a later date. With the conviction, Marshall, who was represented by attorney Earnest Ray White, faces a sentence of two to 20 years in prison.
Marshall and Mitchell spent the day at the same residence when they apparently argued and Marshall hit Mitchell with a board. Mitchell was taken to the hospital, where he later died as a result of the single blow.
Marshall's case was the most serious on the December criminal court docket, which included 123 cases.
