Mr. Ulen Bertram "Son" Fuqua, 80, of Fuqua Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at a local hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County. He was of the Baptist faith, a U.S. Army veteran and a retired building maintenance supervisor from the Escambia County School System with 30 years service.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Rhodes Fuqua of Brewton; a son, Wayne "Cooter" Fuqua of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Janice Fuqua Baggett of Brewton and Joyce Fuqua Grace of Repton; two half brothers, Charles Fuqua and Thirl Fuqua; two half sisters, Diane Fuqua and Frances Meyer; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Shelly and the Rev. John Kemp officiating. Burial followed at Bethel Cemetery in Bethel with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
