A wreck on Hwy. 4 north of Brewton sent three to the hospital on Monday afternoon.
According to the Alabama State Troopers office in Evergreen, a 1979 Ford van and a 1995 International truck collided on Hwy. 41, about a mile north of the city limits. The van was driven by Robert Alderman, of Carterville, Ga., and passengers were Douglas Alderman and Todd Tackett. They were transmitted to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital for treatment. The driver of the log truck, Scotty Caver of Waynesboro, Miss., was not injured. The van left the highway, went through a fence and came to rest in a field some distance away. The highway was littered with debris which came out of the van and with log truck gas leakage that apparently came from the radiator.
Firemen on the scene utilized their water hoses to wash hundreds of screws, nails and other broken pieces of debris from the roadway before traffic was allowed to resume.
Alabama Trooper Ed Bennett was the inspecting officer.
